WIKI, WIKI, WIKI

Hey Ya'll

I'm so excited. I actually created my very own WIKI. Actually, it's not for me personally, but for my library. Here's the info:

http://libraryatsunrise.wikispaces.com/

I was fearing it would be as confusing to me (Miss Techno Dummy,) as creating this blog, but I was actually surprised at how easy it was. My goal is to use it to actively advertise it for the next school year. My intent is to share with patrons any news pertinent to the library, a listing of new books/materials, and an opportunity for patrons to write little blurbs about favorite books. I think this would be a wonderful asset to the intent of the Sunrise Library program.

FANTASTIC FLICKR

I just found the most awesome pictures of a children's library somewhere (definitely not mine.) It was posted by ljb design's photostream. You really ought to check it out for yourself. It has carved shelves for books, wonderful carved decorations around and the most mezmerizing environment. I would love to find out where this library is. I'd love to see it for myself. Did anyone else happen to see these pictures?

How Are My Habits

Let's see. Of all the 7 1/2 habits, the 1/2 (play) is by far my best. Doesn't get me far, though. Of the "real" ones, my strongest are probably "viewing problems as challenges." For years, this is what I stress in my teaching. Also, finally, after 60 years, I finally feel confident as a competent, efficient learner.

However, I do need work in a couple of areas, which I completely believe I will grow in. One is "beginning with the end in mind," or formally setting a goal. I hate goals, but I know they serve a purpose. So I'm more than willing to give this area an honest shot. Another area I am really excited to learn more about is "using technology to my advantage." I can't believe how much I've already learned last semester and this one. I find it exciting.
